Sailor’s Success

The Volvo Gill Optimist British Open Sailing Championships took place off Portland in July 2019. And Bermudian sailor, Christian Ebbin, age 14, chose Sea View Cottage as his base for the competition. However, we expect his mum Susan had a say in chosing Sea View from the cheap holiday cottages available!

Christian came third in the same event he won the previous year.

In a field which this year had nearly 60 competitors, he is obviously an outstanding talent. And a real credit to his parents and his Country. The video above reveals him to be a nice lad too although sadly we didn’t get to meet him.

Not wanting to sit by the waters edge ALL of the time or relax in one of our cheap holiday cottages, his mum Susan got up to the Southerly tip of Portland and went horseback riding with Chesil Equestrian.

Many sailors choose Sea View Cottage as their base for competition or sailing courses of various types. Wet suits are frequently seen draped over the balustrade of the rear terrace, drying off. And if the weather’s bad, sailors hang them from hooks in the front porch over a large drip tray we provide.
