The article above will reassure guests of the low risk of catching covid from surfaces. However, as of Summer 2021 we’re continuing to clean our cottages by the sea as per U.K. Government Guidance issued in June 2020 and have adopted the guidance issued by the Professional Association of Self Caterers (PASC). This is the PASC’s practical interpretation of the Government guidance.
Risk Assessment
In June 202 we carried out a thorough Risk Assessment of Sea View Cottage. This was updated in February 2021 using updated PASC guidance.
Cleaning Plan & Check List
Also in June 2020, we rethought our Cleaning Plan & Check List and expanded it to 4 pages long. This was also updated in February 2021.
Health and Safety File
We’ve thyen produced a Health and Safety File comprising the above documents plus information about the key products and equipment we use.
Summary of Key Improvements
These are the key improvements we’ve taken to keep guests and our housekeeper safe from Covid 19:
- A virtual guide book meaning guests don’t have to thumb through the hard copy version. It’s all on-line now and we send guests a link to this approx 10 days before their check-in date.
- We use a medical grade combined cleaner and virucidal disinfectant for all cleaning and disinfecting.
- Dry steam clean of all soft furnishings and curtains.
- Alcohol based hand sanitiser stations near the front and back doors.
- A shower head cleaning schedule.
- We’ve removed our mini Tourist Information Centre leaflet station. Many of the attractions we used to provid leaflets for now appear in the ‘Entertainment and Activities’ sub-section of the ‘Your Local Area Guide’ section of our virtual guide book.
- Laminated Covid 19 posters in certain locations, including a NHS ‘What To Do if you Fall Ill with Covid 19‘ poster and a NHS ‘Covid 19 App QR Code Check-In‘ poster.
- Easy to disinfect plastic sleeves, for TV, Satellite and Video Recorder, remote controls.
- We’ve asked the housekeeper for our cottages by the sea to sign in fit for work and issued her with disposable PPE comprising aprons, gloves, masks, face visor, and goggles.
- We’re asking guests to strip beds and pillows before they check out.
- We’ve removed ornaments and most soft furnishings from our cottages by the sea. We apologise if the cottage looks a bit bare but it’s for your safety.
