Higher Lane, Portland, painted in oils

Earlier this year, we commissioned talented artist Bryony Fenton to paint the icononc view of holidaycottages down Higher Lane, Portland, right next to Sea View Cottage. We passed her various photographs, including Phil Thorn’s great image taken in 2021, but gave her the freedom to paint it as she saw it. And this is her wonderful result…

Brony describes herself as a travelling artist and, although loosely based in Wales, travels the length and breadth of the UK and beyond. She’s a frequent visitor to Portland where her mother hails from, and nearby Wyke where her grandmother lives.

We’ve had Bryony’s painting framed and glazed in ‘art glass’ (non-reflective glass) and it’s now graceing the living room at Sea View Cottage.  We honestly think this is one of the most iconic views in Dorset, and must give Gold Lane, Shaftesbury, a run for its money.
