D-Day 80th Anniversary Celebrations
If you’re looking for places to visit in Dorset, Thursday 6th June 2024 is the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day landings. Portland was the port from which thousands of US troops embarked on the final decisive phase of Word War 2. Naturally the Castletown D-Day Centre on Portland will be marking the occasion. Not only on Thursday 6th June itself but also over the following weekend. Details of both events are on Facebook as follows
- Thursday 6th June 07.30 am to 9.15 pm – D Day 80th Anniversary at Castletown D-Day Centre
- Weekend of Saturday 8th June (10.30 am) & Sunday 9th June (3.30 pm) – D-Day 80th Anniversary Weekend at Castletown D-Day Centre
At the date of posting, Sea View Cottage is unbooked for 6 nights from Tuesday 4th to Monday 10th June. Late May/early June is one of the nicest times to visit Sea View Cottage. Temperatures are on the climb and the early summer flowers are in bloom. So if you’re looking for places to visit in Dorset why not book a few nights over this period? You could visit one or other of these events – or maybe book all 6 nights and visit all of them. UPDATE: our most frequent guests have since booked the whole of this week for their sixth visit to Sea View Cottage!
